Your Will Be Done

Your Will Be Done

by Thomas B. Grosh IV, D.Min., CMDA Northeast Regional Director

Throughout this day and the challenges we face after a weekend of celebrations, join me in singing Your Will be Done by Jonny Robinson and Rich Thompson of City Alight. As you may remember, City Alight released this song two years ago in “the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.” In their letter to “The World,” found in their YouTube description, they state:

…We are at a loss in so many ways, unsure of what to do, unsure of what to say, and unsure of what the future holds.”…We offer this simple song, simply played, in the midst of this present trial, so that you might be able to pray these words along with our Saviour. There is a God who is still ruling on the throne, and He is our good and loving Father. If there is anything in which you can put your trust at this uncertain time, let it be the will of your loving Father.

Church, in the chaos – in bedrooms, living rooms, hospital rooms, and virtual rooms – let us lift our voices in prayer and sing, ‘Father, not my will but Yours be done!’…

Yes, I still find this song a gift and relevant as I worship, fix my eyes on, and press on in the upward hope of Christ Jesus while bringing the hope and healing of Christ to the world alongside future / current healthcare professionals. I particularly appreciated it in recent personal, face-to-face conversations not only with future healthcare professionals who I met for the first time, but also with healthcare professionals with whom I reconnected with for the first time since the beginning of COVID-19. Thank you to the many partners in ministry who journey with us during this unique time. To God be the glory!
