The course is free for CMDA members, so be sure to log into your account to access the course for free.

You are invited to join us for a special webinar as we explore the misnamed “conversion therapy” and how it’s impacting both healthcare and theology today.

“Conversion therapy” is the name assigned to any type of therapy that is open to a patient’s desires to decrease or change unwanted same-sex attraction or behavior or unwanted incongruent gender identity or expression.

In this webinar, Dr. Laura Haynes will present research on the causes, therapy and faith-based care that relate to same-sex attraction and incongruent gender identity, as well as the safety and effectiveness of such care. Next, Dr. Gary Barnes will address concerns about how to engage in meaningful dialogue on the topics of sexual identity and gender identity by offering essential psychological and theological understandings as well as specific recommendations for engaging with these issues.

This webinar is designed to help both Christian healthcare professionals and church leaders address these new ethical issues and engage in meaningful dialogue on this important topic. The webinar will also include a panel discussion and Q&A with our guest speakers, allowing you to contribute your questions and thoughts to the conversation. We hope you will join this group of theological, psychiatric and ethical experts on Saturday, November 6 at 10 a.m. ET to learn more about “conversion therapy” and its place in the conversation on identity and gender.
