Numbers 13:1-2

The LORD said to Moses, "Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders."

“The Lord said.”  What powerful words recorded in Numbers.  After years in captivity in Egypt, the Hebrew people were at the precipice of moving back to their “promised land”, Canaan.  Through Moses, God had led His People against all odds out of slavery, across the Red Sea, out of the grasp of the powerful Egyptian army, to the “front door” of His destination for them.  Before heading into the country, God gave Moses the plan.  He told him to send men to explore the land.

Just as God had a plan for these people, He has a plan for you and your family today.  You may be aware of that plan and on track to fulfilling His plan for your life.  Or you may be still seeking that plan – unsure of what God wants from you.  Or, you may not yet be seeking His Will in your life.  Regardless of your status on this, God has a plan for you.

If you are a health professional or training to become a health professional, God should be a part of your decision process beginning with the choice of the profession.  If God is leading you to serve others through one of the health professions, you are a privileged child of God.  There is no better life course to pursue if this is God’s plan for you.  If you do not think it is God’s plan for your life, you need to pause to consider the professional path.

As you progress along the life path in a health profession, God should be a part of every decision including area of specialty, location of practice, even your practice group.  As God plans your professional life, He also plans for your family life, your church and community life.

My greatest joy in the practice of medicine comes from the confidence of knowing this is God’s will and plan for my life.

Lord, thank you for caring enough about me to provide a plan for my life.  Help me each day to renew my commitment to that plan.
