Gary Ott, MD, a surgeon at the Portland Providence Heart Institute with a special interest in mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation. Dr. Ott earned his medical degree at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he also did his surgical residency. He then did his cardiothoracic fellowship at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He has been married to Cheryl for 36 years and has three children, Jordan, Hannah and Nathan, and a therapy dog named Appa.
